Very Good, Pat. 1885 (Short) Carbine Boot, Unit-Mkd.

A very nice, live Pat. 1885 Carbine Boot that is pictured on pg. 151 of INDIAN WAR CARTRIDGE POUCHES, BOXES AND CARBINE BOOTS by Dorsey. Showing a field/saddler modification where the lower body strap was moved up the boot body to better fit the saddle rigging. Marked "G 29 4" on the suspension strap, this boot served in the 4th Cavalry, G Troop. Full-length straps, only normal flexing and no flaking. The tip of the body shows some nibbling of the leather where the carbine front sight wore going in and out.
