Excellent Pat. 1885 .45 Cal. Cavalry Cartridge Belt, 45 Loop Variation
Price: 525

From my personal research collection, this belt is excellent plus and is the exact specimen shown on pg. 271 of AMERICAN MILITARY AND NAVAL BELTS 1812-1902. There were two lengths of this pattern cavalry belt and this is the shorter of the two (the other being a 50 loop version). The 1885 Stuart-type Sabre hook on the sabre slipped through the box buckle held by the chape on the lower edge of the belt.

An excellent plus specimen with a bright "ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL" stamp as well as a "W.T.G." inspector's stamp. A photo of the back of this belt is available on request if you do not have the reference work cited.
